Program Objectives
Journeyman License Requirements*
- Must have an apprentice license
- 5 years of on-the-job training
- 550 hours (110 per year) of classroom training and education
- Work for a Master Plumber
All students must bring a current MA Plumbing and Gas Code Book to all classes, 248CMR 2005 Uniform State Plumbing & Gas Code
Duration: 110 hours
This course is designed to prepare Plumbing Tier I-V apprentices to fulfill the requirements to take the Massachusetts State Journeyman Plumber's Examination. In order to apply the course hours towards a student's educational requirements as outlined in 248 C.M.R., Section 11, they must hold a current Massachusetts Apprentice Plumber's License. State requirements vary for Plumbing I & II and Tier I, II, III & IV Apprentices based on the date the student acquired their Apprentice License. The Tier program is for apprentice plumbers who received their apprentice card after September 1, 2008.
